After a sensational start to life with the United States men’s national team, Julian Hall continued his hot-scoring ways by netting the opening goal in Red Bull New York’s 4-1 victory over San Diego FC on Saturday night.
The 18-year-old star breezed past a pair of San Diego defenders to find an open patch of grass to finish off a feed from winger Jorge Ruvalcaba in the 15th minute.
“You could see that he was excited to be back, that he had energy and confidence from his time with the national team,” Red Bull New York head coach Michael Bradley said following the victory. “When you have a young player like that, there’s a lot being thrown at him right now and he’s handling it all in a really mature way.”
Devin Padelford Scores First Red Bull New York Goal

Left-back Devin Padelford doubled New York’s advantage five minutes later, scoring a header from Cade Cowell’s corner kick.
“Devin has been a really positive addition since he’s come in,” Bradley said. “He has a really good personality. He’s fit in so well with the group, and he has really good qualities. He’s a competitor, he’s athletic. I think he has in a short amount of time really picked up our football ideas and understands what we want.”
Ruvalcaba would add a goal of his own in the 27th minute, scoring from a tight angle after midfielder Ronald Donkor played him through.
“He had a really good game tonight,” Bradley said of Ruvalcaba. “Obviously, he scores a goal, has a really good assist. But beyond that, his work, his pressing, his understanding of what we want from our wide attackers, that part was really, really good.”
Not even half an hour into the match, the Red Bulls had already gained a commanding 3-0 lead.
Red Bull New York defender Julián Bazán brought down forward Marcus Ingvartsen in the box, and San Diego was awarded a 42nd-minute penalty. Horvath was up to the task as he denied Anders Dreyer’s attempt.
Despite owning 58 percent of first-half possession and holding a 268-124 advantage in pass attempts, the visitors had nothing to show for it.
Cédric Bakambu got San Diego FC on the board in the 60th minute, with Dreyer providing the primary assist. Red Bull New York’s lead was cut to 3-1.
Tim Parker Makes 300th MLS Appearance

Veteran defender Tim Parker made his 300th MLS appearance, coming on as a 61st-minute substitute for Justin Che.
“It’s a pretty cool achievement,” Parker said. “I started to think about how many games it is and how many years I’ve been playing since. It’s pretty rewarding.”
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored a late goal to complete the rout and seal Red Bull New York’s 4-1 victory.
Red Bull New York will travel to Audi Field on Wednesday to face rivals D.C. United. Kickoff for Wednesday’s contest is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
