About the author:

Sean Hartnett began covering Red Bull New York as a credentialed reporter during the 2011 season for CBS New York and WFAN.com. Though he was mainly assigned to covering the New York Rangers in a beat reporting role during his nine-plus-year stint at CBSNY/WFAN, he covered several Red Bulls playoff runs between 2011 and 2018.
During his time at WFAN.com, Sean covered the 2012 and 2014 Stanley Cup Finals, offering fans deep access to the New Jersey Devils’ and New York Rangers’ journeys to the finals. He covered seven of the Rangers’ playoff runs.
Sean also served as a newsroom sports editor for CBS New York and WFAN.com for over four years. He was also the website writer for longtime NHL captains David Backes and Jamie Langenbrunner, detailing their NHL and Olympic accomplishments as well as their off-ice interests and charitable causes.
After taking care of family priorities, Sean resumed his career as a freelance sports journalist, covering Gotham FC’s 2025 NWSL Championship run for Athlon Sports.
