Red Bull New York announced on Tuesday afternoon that winger Dennis Gjengaar has joined Norwegian Eliteserien side Vålerenga.
Gjengaar spent three seasons with the Red Bulls following his February 2024 move from Odds BK. He scored four goals and recorded two assists in 52 total appearances for Red Bull New York.
Most recently, the 22-year-old Norwegian has featured for Red Bull New York II. Gjengaar played in 18 MLS NEXT Pro matches, scoring five goals and registering eight assists.

“We want to thank Dennis for his professionalism and commitment during his time with our club,” Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman said. “He has been a fantastic person on and off the pitch, and we wish him continued success in this next chapter of his career, both professionally and personally.”
Vålerenga is currently 11th in the Eliteserien.
Time Running Out For Red Bulls To Sign Players Before Wednesday’s Transfer Deadline
Supporters have been calling on de Guzman and the club to acquire fresh talent, especially as the Red Bulls have only won once in seven matches since returning from the World Cup break on July 22.
With Major League Soccer’s transfer window closing on Wednesday, time is running out for the Red Bulls to bring in some new faces.
According to Tom Bogert of The Athletic, the Red Bulls pulled out of a deal to sign Caden Clark, who previously spent multiple spells in Harrison.
Gustav Berggren departed the Red Bulls on August 12 to join Polish champions Lech Poznań.
We’ll soon learn whether de Guzman has a few moves up his sleeve.
