Gotham FC forward Jordynn Dudley is set to miss Sunday’s home match against Angel City FC.
The 21-year-old NWSL Rookie of the Year candidate suffered a foot injury in training, and on Thursday, she was removed from the United States women’s under-23 training camp roster.
Gotham FC head coach Juan Carlos Amorós provided an update during Saturday’s press conference.
“She got a little bit hurt on her foot and we have to wait and see where that takes her,” Amorós said. “She’s not going to be ready to play on the weekend. So I think that’s why, obviously, as well for the U.S., we were still assessing and we will see how that goes. We’ll obviously miss her in the game, but hopefully she’s back with us soon.”
Amorós on Dudley: ‘She’s Been Our Rookie of the Year’
Dudley was named NWSL Rookie of the Month for September on Thursday. It was the second time this season that she was named Rookie of the Month, having previously won the award in April.
The pacey 5-foot-11 forward has scored four goals and recorded three assists through 25 regular season games.
“She’s been for us our Rookie of the Year here,” he said. “We’re so proud of everything that she’s done this year.”
Gotham and Angel City will kick off at 1 p.m. Eastern Time on Sunday. The match will be broadcast on ESPN and available to stream on ESPN’s streaming services.
Check back Sunday morning for a full match preview.
