Gotham FC continued their dominant ways by defeating the Houston Dash 1-0 on Sunday.
The reigning NWSL champions enter the regular season break in fine form, having won five of their last six league matches while extending their undefeated streak to six.
“I’m really proud of the team,” Juan Carlos Amorós said during his post-match press conference. “From start to finish, every single player, wherever they were playing, they gave everything. We saw who we are. We dominated every aspect of the game.”
Rookie sensation Jordynn Dudley opened the scoring in the 18th minute by escaping the pressure of Houston defender Lisa Boattin and firing a blasted effort past goalkeeper Jane Campbell.
Gotham captain Tierna Davidson assisted Dudley by lofting a long ball over the defense. The 27-year-old defender played several aerial balls into dangerous areas to unsettle Houston’s back line.
Esther came close several times to scoring in the first half and attempted a spectacular bicycle kick in the 52nd minute, but Campbell made a leaping save.
Rose Lavelle Returns From Injury

Rose Lavelle returned to Gotham’s bench and was summoned in the 62nd minute along with Emily Sonnett as the duo replaced Sarah Schupansky and Davidson.
Lavelle last played in the Bats’ 1-0 victory over Racing Louisville on May 3. The 31-year-old midfielder appeared to be at full speed after a hamstring injury kept her out of the lineup for most of the month.
Backup goalkeeper Shelby Hogan continued to fill in for first-choice goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, who is in return to play protocol after suffering an abdominal injury during the Concacaf W Champions Cup.
Hogan made three saves to record a clean sheet.
Gotham FC Honors Mandy Freeman’s Decade of Service

Following the match, the club honored veteran defender Mandy Freeman for 10 years of service to the club.
Freeman last played in the 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup on February 1, where Gotham cruised to a 4-0 victory in the third-place game.
Gotham supporters will have to wait until late June to see the Bats in action again. Next up on Gotham’s schedule is a June 26 date with the Kansas City Current in the 2026 NWSL Challenge Cup held at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field in Columbus, Ohio.
