Red Bull New York exercised the option to purchase forward Mijahir Jiménez from CD Plaza Amador after the 19-year-old recently impressed by scoring a brace in his first career MLS start.
Jiménez will now occupy an international roster spot. The Panama native signed a two-year contract with the Red Bulls through the 2027-28 season. His deal includes options for the 2028-29, 2029-30 and 2030-31 seasons.

Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman is encouraged by Jimenez’s growth and willingness to improve.
“Mijahir has earned this opportunity through his hard work, professionalism, and development since joining our club,” de Guzman said in a statement on Friday. “He has embraced our playing style, continues to improve every day, and shown he is ready for the next step.”
Jiménez made his MLS debut against Charlotte FC on July 25. One week later, he made his first career MLS start against Orlando City SC on August 1. His two-goal performance against Orlando helped propel the Red Bulls to a 3-2 victory.
“Mijahir has continued to improve, and we are excited to have him with us as he takes the next step in his development,” Red Bull New York head coach Michael Bradley said. “Through his work ethic and his commitment in training every day, he deserves this opportunity, and we can’t wait to continue working with him.”
Jiménez Ready To Keep Working for More Opportunities
The 6-foot-2 forward became the second player in club history to record a brace in his first career MLS start. Cornell Glen previously accomplished the feat on May 8, 2004.
“I’m going to keep working to get more opportunities,” Jiménez said following the August 1 match. “I think the change is that here in the first team, it is a little more difficult. But I’m a hard worker who works day by day to be in the first team, whenever the coach needs me.”
Red Bull New York will face Atlanta United on Saturday, with kickoff at Mercedes-Benz Stadium scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
