Highly-touted teenager Mak Whitham has moved from Gotham FC to Gainbridge Super League side DC Power FC on a loan agreement that runs through the end of the year.
The 16-year-old forward should receive increased playing time with the Power to aid her development.
Whitham Set for Expanded Role With DC Power
“Mak is an incredibly talented young forward who is an exciting addition for us,” DC Power sporting director Steven Birnbaum said on Tuesday. “She has shown a great deal of promise, and we believe her pace and creativity will add another dimension to our group. We are excited for her to continue her development with us while contributing to the team this 2026 season.”
Whitham signed for Gotham at age 13 in July 2024. became the youngest player in NWSL history to appear in a regular-season match when she debuted against Seattle Reign FC on March 15, 2025, at 14 years old and seven months.
Loan Move Offers Whitham Valuable Playing Time
She has played a total of 12 games for Gotham across all competitions over two seasons. Her most recent appearance for the Bats was a nine-minute substitute appearance in the third-place match of the 2025–26 Concacaf W Champions Cup against Pachuca Femenil.
The 5-foot-5 forward has represented the United States women’s national youth teams at various levels. She has scored six goals in six matches for the United States under-17 team.
Whitham is considered one of the most promising women’s soccer players in her age group. Should she enjoy a successful loan spell with the Power, it could open the door for more opportunities with Gotham in the 2027 season.
