Gotham FC governor and majority owner Carolyn Tisch Blodgett penned a message to supporters after the Bats clinched a first NWSL Shield in the franchise’s history by defeating the Utah Royals 2-0 on Sunday.
The club will now turn its full focus to the opportunity to repeat as NWSL champions. Should Gotham win a second consecutive NWSL Championship, they will become the first NWSL club to achieve a domestic treble within a single season.
Tisch Blodgett thanked supporters for their “unwavering commitment” and asked them to fully soak in the moment after a demanding season that tested the club with competitions across multiple continents, key departures and several season-ending injuries.

Her letter in full:
Gotham FC Family,
On Sunday, we celebrated a milestone years in the making. For the first time in our club’s history, Gotham FC is the NWSL Shield winner.
This has been an extraordinary journey. In the longest season in NWSL history, our players have been competing since January, representing Gotham on international stages in London and Mexico, and navigating the challenges of a season that has demanded so much from everyone involved.
There have been incredible highs and difficult moments. We’ve faced setbacks, welcomed new faces, and continued to challenge ourselves against the best teams in the world. Throughout, we’ve continued to push ourselves to get better, to raise our standards, and to build a club capable of competing at the highest level year after year.
Sustaining that standard, week after week, across an entire season, is what makes this Shield so meaningful. It’s a testament to the commitment of our players, coaches, and staff, who have worked tirelessly to raise the bar. And it’s a reflection of the belief we’ve shared in what Gotham FC can become.
To our supporters, thank you for bringing the energy, passion, and unwavering commitment that make Gotham FC so special. And to our fans across New Jersey, New York and beyond, thank you for showing up, cheering us on, and making this club your own. You’ve been a part of this journey every step of the way, and we’re proud to share this moment with all of you.
There aren’t many opportunities in sports to stop and appreciate what you’ve accomplished. This is one of them. I hope you’ll take a moment to celebrate what we’ve achieved together.
And while we’re incredibly proud of this milestone, our season isn’t over. The playoffs are ahead, and we can’t wait to see you there as we continue this journey.
Thank you for believing in Gotham FC.
