Days away from The Queens Classic, Gotham FC announced that 40,000 tickets have been distributed for the highly anticipated match at Citi Field.
The Flushing Meadows–Corona Park baseball stadium will hold a capacity of 42,175 when Gotham and the rival Washington Spirit engage in a rematch of the 2025 NWSL Championship Game on Wednesday night.
As of the publication of this story on Monday morning, limited tickets were still available in the 500-level promenade.
The Queens Classic is set to become the highest attended women’s sporting event in New York City history. Previously, the 2023 U.S. Open Women’s Singles Final between Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka at Arthur Ashe Stadium drew 28,143 spectators.
Sarah Schupansky: ‘The Team Is So Pumped for This Experience’

Midfielder Sarah Schupansky spoke of Gotham’s excitement to play under the lights at Citi Field. Wednesday’s match kicks off at 8 p.m. Eastern Time.
“The team is so pumped for this experience,” Schupansky stated last Thursday. “This has been months in the making from our business side, so we want to make everybody proud and put on a good performance. Hopefully, we can bring in some new fans from New York City.
“The whole experience is going to be incredible. We’ve seen similar events around the league where fans have really shown up, so we’re excited to see the turnout and hopefully put on a great show for everybody.”
Sam Kerr Set for Queens Classic Debut

Wednesday will likely be Sam Kerr’s first match for Gotham since September 30, 2017. The all-time NWSL leading regular season goalscorer returned to the Bats on June 29, but league rules prevent her from being registered until July 14, one day before The Queens Classic.
Gotham FC will move into the 25,000-seat Etihad Park in 2028. The soccer-specific stadium, which will sit across from Citi Field, is owned by New York City FC. Etihad Park is expected to be completed before the 2027–28 Major League Soccer season.
“Our move to New York City is a statement by our club leadership that they know we have something special at Gotham FC, and they are committed to ensuring we have the resources and environments to support our continued success,” captain Tierna Davidson said last Tuesday. “That means everything to the players at this club, and we are looking forward to playing in a world-class stadium and sharing this next chapter with our supporters.”
Gotham most recently defeated the Utah Royals 3-1 last Friday at America First Field behind two goals from Esther González. The fourth-place Bats will look to make it two wins in a row in Queens on Wednesday night.
