Promising United States men’s national under-17 team midfielder Deven Cadigan appears to be on a fast track to success with Red Bull New York.
On Friday, Cadigan signed a two-year MLS NEXT Pro contract with Red Bull New York II, which will run through the 2028 season.
Cadigan’s contract with the Red Bull New York first team as a Homegrown Player will begin in 2028-29 and continue through the 2029-30 season. His deal includes an option for the 2030-31 season.
Red Bull New York II Coaching Staff Praise Cadigan’s Progress

“Deven is a great example for many players in our academy,” Red Bull New York II head coach Dominik Wohlert stated. “He’s someone who has been with the club for multiple years, has truly embraced our identity, and has continued to develop through the various age groups.
“This achievement is a true testament to his recent performances and his fantastic development. As a club, we will continue to support and challenge him so that we can turn our shared goals into reality.”
Cadigan has appeared in 13 matches so far this season for Red Bull II, starting on 11 occasions. He made his NEXT Pro debut on March 1, as a 15th-minute substitute against Columbus Crew 2 at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Red Bull New York technical director Tiger Fitzpatrick is encouraged by the teenager’s rapid progress.
“We are excited to have Deven with Red Bulls II,” Fitzpatrick said. “His rise this season has been truly incredible to see. We look forward to working with him and continuing his development.”
Cadigan Logs Major Minutes in Breakout Season for Red Bull II

The 17-year-old midfielder joined the Red Bull New York academy in 2019 as part of the regional development school (RDS) program. He would later help the Under-15 team to the MLS NEXT Cup championship.
Cadigan has performed as a vital piece in Wohlert’s plans, having logged 1,100 minutes this season. He has also contributed 11 key passes and an 88 percent pass completion rate.
Only midfielder Nate Worth (1,247) and defender Aimar Sánchez (1,170) have recorded more minutes in NEXT Pro play.
Similar to Julian Hall, Matthew Dos Santos, Adri Mehmeti, Tanner Rosborough, Roald Mitchell and other promising youngsters before them, Cadigan could impress enough for Red Bull II to force his way into first-team plans at a tender age.
Red Bull New York first team head coach Michael Bradley has shown a willingness to give young players opportunities, provided that they possess a strong mentality, the right skill set and a highly committed work ethic.
Cadigan and several of his Red Bull II teammates could be part of the next wave of youngsters to make the grade in the Red Bull New York first team.
