Gotham FC midfielder Sofia Cook agreed to a fresh contract extension on Monday to remain with the Bats through the 2028 season.

The 21-year-old spoke of her delight after putting her signature to a new deal with the defending NWSL champions and 2024–25 Concacaf W Champions Cup winners.

“I’m grateful to have started my professional career at Gotham and excited for the opportunity to keep developing here,” Cook said. “I’ve learned so much in my first year and can’t wait to keep playing with my amazing teammates and our awesome fans.”

Cook has made 10 appearances across all competitions since joining Gotham on January 29, 2025. She has started in all four group stage matches in the 2025-26 Concacaf W Champions Cup, helping the Bats advance to the knockout stage.

While at UCLA, Cook and present-day Gotham teammate Lilly Reale defeated the North Carolina Tar Heels to 2022 NCAA Division I women’s soccer championship game.

“Sofia is a talented player with a very bright future ahead,” Averbuch West said. “We’re excited to continue supporting her development and believe this is an environment where she can really thrive.”

Gotham will open the 2026 NWSL season against Boston Legacy FC in the expansion club’s debut match at Gillette Stadium on March 14.
