Gotham FC will be without the presence of head coach Juan Carlos Amorós on the sidelines when they renew their rivalry with the Kansas City Current on Saturday.
The 41-year-old will not travel with the team as he and his family await the birth of their second child.
Gotham enters Saturday in ninth place in the NWSL standings as they look to snap a concerning goal drought. The Bats failed to score for the entirety of their recent three-game homestand at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Through four league matches played, Gotham owns a minus-one goal difference, having only scored once all season in their 1-0 season-opening victory away to Boston Legacy FC on March 14. While Gotham’s defense have been the stingiest in the league, only surrendering two goals in four matches, the Bats will need to rediscover their goal-getting ways at CPKC Stadium.
Shaun Harris to Take Charge as Acting Head Coach
Lead assistant coach Shaun Harris will serve as acting head coach for Gotham FC’s 4 p.m. Eastern time meeting with the Current.
With Amorós unavailable, Gotham is in the trusted hands of Harris, who was named the 2025 United Soccer Coaches Assistant Coach of the Year.

Harris joined Gotham’s technical staff in January 2023 after spending over 11 years in various coaching roles for Tottenham Hotspur. Prior to arriving at Gotham, Harris performed in an assistant coaching role for Tottenham Women for over two seasons.
He will also take part in Gotham’s pre-match press conference on Friday. Stay tuned to South Ward Central for more coverage and interviews leading up to Saturday’s match.
