Red Bull New York has loaned 20-year-old forward Serge Ngoma to USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC through December 31, 2026.

After appearing in 24 matches across all competitions last season, Ngoma fell down the pecking order under first-year head coach Michael Bradley.

Wingers Jorge Ruvalcaba and Cade Cowell have quickly impressed through the first two matches of the 2026 season. The presence of Cowell, Ruvalcaba, and fellow wingers Dennis Gjengaar, Mohammed Sofo (currently out due to ankle injury) and Cameron Harper (recovering from right knee injury) meant that there wasn’t a clear path for Ngoma to receive consistent game action.

Ngoma Gets Opportunity To Impress With the Birmingham Legion

Going on loan with Birmingham will offer Ngoma a greater opportunity to play first-team football.

“We’re grateful for everything Serge has given the club so far. This loan is about putting him in the best possible position to play regularly and keep developing his game,” Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman said. “He’s worked hard for this opportunity, and we’ll be supporting him every step of the way.”

After making his MLS debut on February 26, 2022, Ngoma has made a total of 43 appearances for the Red Bulls across all competitions. He has scored four goals over that span.

Should Ngoma impress for the Legion, he could force his way back into New York’s first team picture when his loan expires ahead of New Year’s Day 2027.
