Julian Hall scored on his United States men’s senior national team debut and later added an assist as the Americans defeated Peru 4-1 in a friendly match at Orlando’s Inter.co Stadium.

The 18-year-old Red Bull New York forward came on as a 62nd-minute substitute, replacing goalscorer Justin Ellis, who also scored on his debut in the fourth minute.

Hall latched onto Sebastian Berhalter’s cross at the far post to increase the United States’ lead to 3-1 in the 72nd minute.

Wearing the No. 19 shirt, Hall would later assist Berhalter’s long-range drive in the 90th minute.

Hall’s Red Bull New York teammate Adri Mehmeti also debuted in the 88th minute, replacing Tyler Adams, who, like the duo, came through Red Bull New York’s Academy.

Mehmeti Makes USMNT Debut

Mehmeti was handed the No. 26 jersey by Mauricio Pochettino. During Wednesday’s press conference, he spoke of being inspired by Adams as the pair were seated next to each other during the presser.

“Watching him kind of being a role model for me, because hopefully one day I can take that similar pathway that he’s taken,” Mehmeti explained. “Watching him, obviously at the highest levels, you can see the character that he has, the personality, what he’s willing to do with and without the ball.”

Adams praised Mehmeti’s abilities and hardworking nature.

“He has all the qualities to become a good player,” Adams said. “I’ve only heard good things about him and seeing how diligent he is in doing his work, turning into a really, really good professional. He’s going to be able to take the steps necessary.”

The United States will next face Chile on Tuesday, September 29, as the Americans continue their four-match international friendly schedule.

Tuesday’s contest is scheduled to kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern Time and will be shown on TNT, truTV, HBO Max, NBC Universo and Peacock.
