Red Bull New York has been taking a close look at soon-to-be free agent Liverpool defender Rhys Williams over the past few weeks.
The 25-year-old center-back has been training with the Red Bull New York first team at RWJBarnabas Health Red Bulls Performance Center in Morris Township, New Jersey.
Williams Searching For His Next Opportunity

Wednesday was the first day of first team training with media availability at the recently opened training ground since Red Bull New York were last in action on May 23 in a 2-1 victory over Sporting Kansas City at Sporting Park.
Williams’ contract with Liverpool is set to expire on June 30. The 6-foot-5 defender made 19 appearances for Liverpool during the 2020-21 season.
He spent the majority of his Liverpool career on loan after graduating from the Liverpool academy. Williams was sent out on loan spells at Kidderminster Harriers, Swansea City, Blackpool, Aberdeen, Port Vale and Morecambe during his time as a Liverpool player.
At the time of this reporting, Red Bull New York has not made a decision whether to offer Williams a contract. Stay tuned to South Ward Central for further updates about his status.
