After a long wait, Gotham FC supporters are looking forward to the chance of seeing Guro Reiten make her debut in Saturday’s 1 p.m. home match against Bay FC.

The 31-year-old left winger is available for selection after visa issues delayed her start with the club after she signed for the Bats on March 12.

Teammates like Jaedyn Shaw appreciate Reiten’s on-pitch abilities and her bubbly personality after spending the past few days alongside her in training.

“I feel like she fits right in,” Shaw said during Friday’s press conference. “She’s so nice and funny and has been a really great addition to our team already.

“Even in practice, we’ve all been bantering and trying to figure out tendencies. It’s tough coming in the middle of a season, but I feel like she’s done really well and we’re so happy to have her.”

Lead head coach Shaun Harris spoke to the media on Friday as head coach Juan Carlos Amorós attended to family duties.

Harris is eager to see the impact that Reiten will make at Gotham. The Norwegian international won 13 major trophies during a seven-year spell with Chelsea F.C. Women.

“Guro’s been a great addition already just from her personality and the way she lights up a room,” Harris stated. “She’s come in, she’s very social, very engaging.

“She’s made a lot of effort to try and get to know people as quickly as she can. Her talent speaks for itself. We’re really happy to have her. The stuff that she can do on the pitch and off the pitch is going to help us going forward, and hopefully it can be a real success for her joining the team.”

Gotham general manager and head of soccer operations Yael Averbuch West believes that Reiten ticks several boxes in helping jumpstart an attack that has only scored two goals through the first five matches of the 2026 NWSL season.

“We were looking for a left-footed, left-sided, attacking player who is intelligent, technically strong, has played at the highest level and has winning experience,” Averbuch West explained during Wednesday’s press conference. “That essentially describes her.”

Reiten scored 59 goals and recorded 44 assists across 207 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea.

“I’m going to try and do my best and help the team grow and get the best out of everyone here,” she said during her introductory press conference on Wednesday. “I take pride in my performances, and that goes day by day. If it’s a session or a game, it should be high standards. That’s what I’m used to.”

Her chance to change Gotham’s goalscoring fortunes for the better will likely come on Saturday, and her cultured left foot and creativity will play a significant role as the 13th-place Bats attempt to climb the NWSL standings.
