Red Bull New York has acquired Belgium youth international Joyeux Masanka Bungi on loan from RB Leipzig, with the 19-year-old left-back becoming the latest addition to join up with Michael Bradley’s youth-driven squad.
Masanka Bungi has been described as a versatile talent. In addition to left-back, he is able to line up at left midfield, central midfield and attacking midfield.
Bradley is excited to work with Masanka Bungi, who made 56 total appearances to date for various RB Leipzig youth teams.
“Joyeux is a talented young player with a strong mentality, and we are looking forward to working with him,” Bradley stated. “We are excited to help him continue his development.”

Masanka Bungi stands at 6-foot-1. He has made 28 appearances across the Belgium national team’s youth levels.
17-year-old left-back Matthew Dos Santos made his MLS debut starting in New York’s season-opening 2-1 away victory over Orlando City SC last Saturday. Dos Santos impressed in a 65-minute appearance before being replaced by substitute Omar Valencia.
Red Bull New York head of sport Julian de Guzman has continued to build a squad that is young, skillful and fleet-footed.
De Guzman Praises Joyeux Masanka Bungi’s Skills and Technical Quality
“We’re pleased to welcome Joyeux on loan from RB Leipzig,” de Guzman said. “He’s a talented young player with strong technical quality, and we believe this will be an important step in his development while adding to our group.”

Masanka Bungi was handed New York’s number 23 shirt. He is under contract at RB Leipzig until June 30, 2027.
The Red Bulls lost depth at left-back when veteran Raheem Edwards re-joined former club, Toronto FC, on February 17.
With one month to go before the 2026 MLS primary transfer window closes, RBNY supporters will be pondering what other new faces will join up before the window slams shut on March 26.
