Cameron Harper made his long-awaited return to the pitch, featuring in Red Bull New York II’s 4-3 penalty kick shootout loss to Philadelphia Union II at MSU Soccer Park on Sunday.

The 24-year-old entered the MLS Next Pro match in the 77th minute, replacing midfielder Nehuén Benedetti.

Harper will look to build up his match fitness as he recovers from a long-term right knee injury, but Red Bull New York II aren’t scheduled to play again until mid-April due to a match postponement. Red Bull New York will next face FC Cincinnati on April 4 at Sports Illustrated Stadium,

Harper Logs First Minutes Since Knee Surgery

Harper had been sidelined since the injury occurred in Red Bull New York’s 2025 MLS regular season match against Austin FC on June 14, and he underwent surgery on June 24.

Once Harper is fully up to speed, he could provide valuable competition among the Red Bull first team at right-back and right-wing. Since his March 2021 arrival from Celtic, he has made 112 appearances in all competitions across five seasons for the Red Bulls.

Sokoloff Nets First MLS Next Pro Goal With Late Equalizer

Midfielder Paul Sokoloff equalized late for Red Bull II in the 93rd minute to even the contest at 1-1. Forward Mijahir Jimenez found space in the box and assisted Sokoloff.

It was Sokoloff’s first career MLS NEXT Pro goal. He became the third-youngest player in club history to score an MLS NEXT Pro goal at 16 years and 256 days old.

The Baby Bulls will next face New England Revolution II on April 12 at Smithfield, Rhode Island’s Beirne Stadium.
