Norwegian international star winger Guro Reiten has joined Gotham FC in the hunt to add more silverware to her already distinguished trophy haul.
The 31-year-old has joined Gotham on an initial loan through July until her current contract at Chelsea FC expires. She has agreed to terms on a contract in advance of her loan’s expiration that will keep her at Gotham through 2029.
“I’m really excited to join Gotham FC and grateful for the opportunity to be part of this club,” Reiten said. “Gotham has built something special over the past few years, and there’s clear ambition here. I’m looking forward to working hard, learning and doing everything I can to help the team succeed.”
Gotham Add Another Star to Championship Squad

Reiten won an incredible 13 trophies during her time at Chelsea, including six Women’s Super League titles, four Women’s FA Cups and three Women’s League Cups.
The creative winger was a hugely popular figure at Kingsmeadow for seven seasons. She recorded 59 goals and 44 assists across 207 appearances across all competitions for the Blues.
Gotham general manager and head of soccer operations, Yael Averbuch West, is pleased to add Reiten to a collection of stars who won the 2025 NWSL championship and the 2024–25 CONCACAF W Champions Cup last season.
“Guro is a player of exceptional quality who has consistently performed at the highest levels of the game,” Averbuch West said. “Her experience competing for major trophies with Chelsea and her impact with the Norwegian national team will bring valuable leadership and attacking creativity to our squad. We’re excited to welcome her to Gotham.”
Reiten arrives at Gotham with a highly-regarded reputation in England and on the international stage. She made the list of the Guardian’s 100 Best Footballers for four consecutive years, and she twice earned PFA Team of the Year honors.
Gotham supporters will be excited to see Reiten link up with her new teammates during the new NWSL season. Former Chelsea teammates Jess Carter and Ann-Katrin Berger are already familiar with Reiten’s dazzling play on the wing, expertise in set-piece situations and her eye for supplying and scoring goals.
Reiten chipped in 12 goals in 29 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions last season. She will be an intriguing addition to Gotham’s attack that is already fueled by Esther, Jaedyn Shaw, Midge Purce and Katie Lampson.
Gotham has handed Reiten the number 18 shirt.
